Cheap Melissa & Doug Learn-To-Play Piano – Reviews

The Melissa & Doug Learn-To-play Piano is a fun and educational toy for young children. The bright colors are attractive to little ones, and the two full octaves mean that children are able to learn more about playing music from this than from a standard toy xylophone.

Features Of The Melissa & Doug Learn-To-Play Piano

* Bright colors, * Made of hard wood, * 25 keys, all hand tuned, * 2 full octaves, * Includes song book, * Suitable for children aged 3+, * Measurements: 15.8” x 9.5” x 11.5”.

Is The Melissa & Doug Learn-To-Play Piano Worth Buying?

Many parents want to encourage their children to play music from an early age. Buying a standard electronic keyboard, or a real piano, can often be too expensive, especially when you’re not sure if your child will even enjoy playing! The Melissa & Doug Learn-To-Play Piano offers a cheaper alternative to encourage musical play at a low price tag. To help children learn about music as they play, the notes on the Melissa & Doug Learn-To-Play Piano are marked above the keys. This means that kids can learn what ‘A’, ‘B’, ‘C’, etc. sound like. The piano also comes with a music book that children can learn to play simple songs from.

The piano also offers 2 full octaves. This gives kids the chance to experiment more with music, going a step beyond the usual 1 octave range of a children’s xylophone. A larger range of notes means that kids are that bit closer to understanding how a real piano works, giving a decent preparation for the experience of playing a full-blown instrument.

Whilst these are real benefits of the Melissa & Doug Learn-To-Play Piano, there are some drawbacks. Firstly, despite the advertised hand-tuned keys some parents report that some notes are out of tune. Others also report that the sound quality isn’t very good, although that shouldn’t make much difference to your little one!

Of more concern might be the product’s durability. Reports vary, but a number of customers have mentioned that the product falls apart easily even without rough play. Others, however, claim that the product is sturdy and withstands the hard time it’s given by toddlers. It could be that a fault batch of products was released, but be prepared for some DIY repair work.

Some customers also complained about the size of the product, which stands at a height of just 12”. This won’t be a problem for your toddler when sat on the floor in front of it, but may pose some difficulties for your seven year old!

On the whole, this is a decent product offering good educational fun, though durability might be an issue. Although the price isn’t that high, it might be possible to find something a little better for the same cost, so look around before you buy.
